Since 1996, the Canadian Business Association or CBA has been helping to facilitate business in Romania.  As an independent business association, headquartered in Bucharest, the CBA represents multinational and local companies, investors and financial players, service industry providers and interested individuals, all of which provide a wide range of goods and services in furtherance of the Romanian economy.

As per its charter documents, the Canadian Business Association’s purpose and scope is to:

• support and promote members and affiliates acting in Romania or interested to develop commercial activities and/or to make investments in the Romanian economy in any kind of business exchange and/or business relationship inside Romania; and

• support and promote the two-way interaction and understanding between members and affiliates, on the one hand, and Romanian officials and institutions, on the other hand.

In support of the foregoing, the CBA provides its membership with an annual calendar of business and social events, some of which are open to the general public.  In addition, the association is actively involved with Canadian Studies Programmes in Romania in order to better foster academic exchange and provide opportunities to university students.  The CBA publishes weekly informational newsletters, quarterly publications and useful position papers to government as to how to better facilitate business.  There is as well an office providing specialized support to the association’s membership.

Romania is the largest trading partner of Canada in Southeast Europe, with excellent bilateral relations existing and some 192,000 Canadians of Romanian origin living in Canada today.  The Canadian Business Association seeks to further this strong partnership.

Although it is Canadian in tradition and history, membership is open to all.  Today, the Canadian Business Association is a forum supporting a plurality of members and affiliates regardless of origin.  As a non-denominational organization, working with anyone who wishes to further business in Romania (or those hoping to access the Canadian market), the Canadian Business Association upholds the true nature of Canada as an equal society.
